Summer is coming friends! I still am navigating the overall mission statement/vibe of this Substack - so let’s keep things interesting and shift the topic to another one of my favorite things - clothing. I feel like since summer is upon us…it’s time to put away those puffer coats (cliché), but also time to recap some recent fits that I’ve enjoyed putting together for a variety of day / nights out in NYC.
First, I want to preface I am no “style icon.” just a 30 year old guy who knows what brands he likes and how it fits well together on his body. My Met Gala invite is still somewhere lost in the mail.
I believe that when it comes to fashion and personal expression the best inspiration comes from those around us. I feel so lucky to live in New York where some of the best fashion is born. The sidewalk or subway platform can truly be a runway. I am constantly inspired by my environment around me when it comes to putting outfits together. It’s fun to take a variety of risks?
One of my biggest fashion inspirations is Jake Woolf of GQ. He does a really great job of finding simplistic menswear pieces but also tying together trends that becomes attainable.
I want to share some recent favorites of things I have worn recently as I transition my closet from winter to summer. I hope this can inspire some inspiration as I continue to shop and build staples that can rotate from my closet!
From bottom to top…
Prada Men's Diapason Opaque Brushed Leather Derby Shoes (most comfortable shoe I own tbh)
Bode Worchester Polo Gold (runs big - size down!)
Frame Straight Jeans (old, but similar linked)
Buck Mason Matchstick Corduroy Countryman Blazer (can be also styled as a jacket)
Bag is Vintage! My dad’s Coach brief case from his first job in the 80s.
Topman wide leg pleated dress pants (have had these for years, wear a TON)
J.Crew classic fit stripped button down (similar linked!)
Red Tie (old, but similar linked)
Casa Magazine’s Dad Hat (my favorite magazine shop in the West Village)
Bode x Nike Astrograbber (can go with literally everything and very comfortable)
My favorite store to shop is what you already have in your closet. I know this was quite short and brief - but my allergies are at an all time high today so I will continue to share more of my spring and summer faves in the coming weeks!
